Latin Dance Classes

This is the most popular of the Latin dances. A couples dance and easy to learn, we teach this style from absolute beginner through to performance level.

We will teach you all the fundamental moves with great technique, and introduce you to musicality and styling.

Like all our other classes, this is taught in a professional yet fun and friendly atmosphere. You will love this dance.

Originating from the Dominican Republic, this dance style has the easiest basic steps to learn. While there are many different styles of Bachata, we teach the Moderna style while sometimes throwing in some Dominican styling to make you shine on the dance floor. Danced closely, Bachata can be both sensuous or cheeky and a lot of fun!

The meaning of “Bachata” is “get together”, a party of food, drink, dance and merriment…..Perfect!

Cha Cha:

Cha-Cha inherits much of its styling from its parent dances, the rumba and the mambo. Like most Latin dances, it is done with the feet remaining close to the floor.

The dancers’ hips are relaxed to allow a free movement characterised by the swinging hips called “Cuban Motion”, and by taking very small steps.

The Cha-Cha dance consists of three quick steps and two slower steps. The rhythm is “slow-slow-quick-quick-slow” or counting “two-three-four and one”. The count “four and one” corresponds to the “cha-cha-cha” part of the rhythm.

Samba (No Pe)

This is a solo dance for both men and women. Samba is a lively, rhythmical dance originating from Brazil. Samba music is in 2/4 time danced with three steps to every bar, making the Samba feel like a 3/4 timed dance.

The Samba music rhythm has been danced in Brazil since the late 19th century. There are many styles of Samba danced today and this style is typical of what you would see in the Brazilian carnival and samba carnivals all over the world. This is the most popular form of Samba.
